A Story in Two Languages: Dialogue Series in Cypriot Dialects
The SEEing Youth Project has developed an inspiring series of animation videos that capture three daily dialogues in Cypriot dialects. These videos were created by educators who also taught Turkish and Greek classes to young people aged 18-30, from February to October 2024. Through this initiative, the project underscores the cultural value of Cypriot dialects, emphasising their relevance in modern communication while making language learning engaging and accessible for youth. By incorporating local dialects into educational content, SEEing Youth aims to preserve linguistic heritage and deepen the understanding between communities. The project aspires to serve as a model, encouraging more initiatives that celebrate linguistic diversity and support cross-cultural exchange across Cyprus, fostering a sense of unity and shared identity.
The animation videos were created within the scope of the SEEing Youth Project which was funded by the European Union under the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community and implemented by the Turkish Cypriot Managers Association (TCMA) and the Human Resources Management Association (HRMA).
